Replacement for Asuran Scan?
Anyone have any ideas on what a Ranger can replace AS with? I tried EBSoH, but the problem with that is that you have to be in its AoE, which in the heat of battle doesn't always hold true. I already use IatS! pretty much all the time, which was a great combo with AS, but now?

I was going to say By Ural's Hammer! but it looks like that skill is totally changed. Try bringing a hero and micro-ing Great Dwarf Weapon on yourself.

i wish they would nerf all the EotN PvE skills
anyway....
with EBSoH you should be the middle of AoE, if you are moving from center of it too often then something is wrong with your team build.
of course if your using rit heroes, you should have splinter
barbs, etc if using necros

I run Spiritway most of the time, but with the mobs kiting it tends to pull my ranger out of the AoE -- that's what I mean about not always being in the AoE.

thats when i hit c-space, the player is supposed to do the pulling, not the mobs. if a mob starts running/kiting i just c-space and let my minions/heroes chase them while i stay within the barrier of whatever AoE i wanna stay in (usually ward against harm or whatever it is that herta casts since i dont use the ebon PvE line or any other EotN ones for that matter)

I don't see a direct replacement for damage. EbSoH is still great even if you need to move, you should drop it on damage-casting heroes.
Really though, this opens the door up for migrating away from spikes and more to support and utility. But if you still want to just hurt enemies: Glass Arrows, Ebsoh, Iats, Sundering, Penetrating. Or go the pet route with Enraged Lunge, Call of Haste and GDW.

Would this be for a touch build? Does that work in general PvE?

I guess it can be used with a bow in crowded areas, was just an idea though since there doesn't seem to be many choices...

Yeah, well, iirc turret bow-attacks would deliver 150-ish damage, peaking at 200-250. I don't see pets doing that kind of damage.

They don't need to, they just need to do enough damage to be worth your time and make you feel like your contributing. Pets still do decent damage, though their AI is terribad.

Poor or great AI, some of us doesn't like to play with pets at all. I didn't roll a ranger to be locked into using one out of four attributes the ranger has to offer. Marksmanship and Wilderness Survival should both also be viable paths for us and at the moment they are subpar. I'm not the one to "qq my class is nerfed" but I get slightly annoyed when I see people undermining the problem because we still can specc Beastmastery.
The fact that 3 out of 4 attribs are subpar and one is "ok" is far from OK. (imo)

Every attribute should be viable regardless of profession.
That's just not how Guild wars is.
Fotm, area specific builds or you run non min-max builds and deal with it.
That may not be okay, but thats how it is

considering how many rangers here on guru run pet builds, i wouldn't say they were sub par.

Turret was never a very good build to begin with, and now it's as good as dead. Go back to Barrage+EBSoH+SY! with a single-target damage skill or two mixed in.
